For modern Hikvision IP Cameras, in order to integrate them with third party recorders, such as our Diversity Series of NVRs, due to the design of these cameras, you must follow specific steps to ensure that they are recognized by our NVR and then be automatically added. Below are the steps that need to be taken when adding Hikvision cameras to our Diversity PoE NVRs.

  1. First, you will need to connect the Hikvision camera to either a PoE switch or a power injector and then connect it to an available PC or to the main LAN.

  2. Since these cameras are not activated by default, we will need to use the Hikvision SADP tool, to both activate the camera, which forces you to assign a password for the web interface, and then also you will need to assign the camera to use DHCP, so that the plug-and-play function of the camera will work with our Diversity PoE NVRs (AVR-NSV04P4/AVR-NSV08P8/AVR-NSV16P16)

  3. After you have modified the IP address to DHCP and activated the camera with a password, you will need to log into the web interface of the Hikvision camera, and then navigate to the Configuration menu, then usually Network->Advanced Settings->Integration Protocol. Here you will need to make sure that ONVIF is enabled, and then you will need to add a user, preferably with the username of "admin" and then follow the rules for the password creation. Make sure to note this password somewhere, since you will need to supply it later when you add the Hikvision camera(s) to the Diversity NVR. Make sure to click on the Save button to save all of these changes.

  4. Disconnect the camera you just configured from the PoE port and set aside for a few moments.

  5. Now, using the mouse and monitor connected to the Diversity PoE NVR, you will need to navigate to the Settings menu, and then click on the main Camera link in the Camera tile.

  6. Then, click the Advanced Setup button. You will be prompted to enter credentials for the NVR. We are doing this so that we can change the default password that the NVR will try to send to the Hikvision cameras when you connect them to the PoE ports on the back of the NVR.

  7. Now we will need to change the default password for the ONVIF protocol, which is what the Hikvision cameras will be using to be connected to the Diversity NVR. Enter in the password you used for the user that you created in the web interface for the Hikvision IP camera. Also make sure to match the username that you used. Then click on the Save button and then exit out of this window.

  8. At this point, plug the network cable that is going to the Hikvision camera you have just configured into one of the PoE ports on the back of the Diversity PoE NVR. After waiting for around 60-120 seconds for the camera to power on and for the recorder to start adding the camera, you should see the camera list in this Camera menu, and it should appear online as below

  9. For each new Hikvision camera that you want to add to the system, you will need to repeat Steps 1-4, and then connect to an open PoE port on the NVR.
