With our Plug & Play NVRs and Hybrid DVRs, in the event that you have forgotten the password for the main admin account, there is a way to reset this password, but it requires that you be physically in front of the device and also have a display monitor and mouse connected directly to the recorder.

Using the mouse, bring the cursor to the bottom-left of the screen and click on the circular Start button, and you should see a context menu like below.

Logged Out

If the Login option is shown like in the image above, this means you are currently logged out of the device and you will need to click on the Login option.

Logged In

If the Logout option is shown like in the image above, this means you are currently logged in to the device with an account. Even if you are currently logged into the NVR/DVR, there is no way to reset the password for the admin account without first logging out of the device. If you do see the Logout option, then you will need to click it once to log out completely, and then click on the Start button again and then choose the Login option.

Now, once you see the login window, you will need to use the mouse cursor and click in the Username field and then an on-screen keyboard should pop up. In this field, you will need to enter in the user as admin (all lower case), and then click on the Enter key on the virtual keyboard.

If successfully entered, you should now see a new option titled, Retrieve Password. Click on this option.

Depending on the version of firmware on your device, you may see a few options to choose from, as shown in the image above.  Some of these options are dependent on and will only work if certain settings were configured at the time of the initial install, which is not a requirement. The best option to choose most of the time will be the Dynamic Password.

At this moment, you have a few options. You can take a clear and detailed picture of this window on your display monitor and send us a password request to our support email, support@avycon.com, with the picture of the window included. If you choose this email option, please be careful to leave this window open, since we will be sending you a Dynamic Password reset code based off all pieces of information shown. It is a time-sensitive password, so if you do close and reopen the window, we would need to generate a new one again. Please wait up to 24 hours for a response via email.

If you can reach us via phone during our business hours, you can speak to a technician who will ask you to read off all of the information from that window and provide you with the Dynamic Password. This would be the quickest option.

In both cases, if the Dynamic Password is entered in correctly, you will see a prompt to create a new password for the admin account and then depending on the firmware version on the device, it should log you out immediately and ask you to provide the credentials you just created.
