Currently, most of our Plug and Play IP Cameras with v5.x firmware and above support sending their video stream live to YouTube. Below are steps on how to enable this feature.

  1. First, log into the IP camera's web interface, and navigate to Config->Image->Video/Audio and then to the Video tab. At the moment, since RTMP only supports H.264, you will need to modify the stream encoding to H.264 for whichever stream (Main, Sub or Third) you are wanting to send to YouTube.

  2. Also you will need to make sure that Audio is enabled on the camera, if it is supported. You can find where to enable this in the Audio tab in this same section of the menu.

  3. Next, you will need to log into your YouTube account, and navigate to the Studio->Live settings. Here you will be able to find the primary Stream URL and also your Stream key. You will need both of those copied or saved somewhere (such as a text file) for ease of use in the next step.

  4. Return back to the web interface for the Plug & Play IPC and navigate to Config->Network->RTMP. In this menu, please make sure that the option is first enabled. Then choose the specific stream type you want to send to the YouTube Live stream, this also being the stream that you had changed to H.264 encoding in Step #1. You can leave the Reconnect After Timeout option with its default settings, unless you are dealing with an unstable upload bandwidth.

For the Server Address, you will need to combine both the Stream URL and Stream Key from Step #3 into a full URL/URI so that the camera can point exactly to your channel, adding just a "/" in between the two. So for example below:

    Stream URL: rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2

    Stream Key: rg4ZafhLBu9RxZ5gIpw62t2r

    Server Address:  rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2/rg4ZafhLBu9RxZ5gIpw62t2r

After you have entered the combined full Server Address into the field, click on the Save button. Wait for up to one minute, and then click on the Refresh button to see if it has made a connection to your live stream.

  5. Finally navigate back to your YouTube account page and you should see that the stream is being detected and showing a video stream. If you see this, then everything has been configured correctly.

  6. If you are having any issues configuring this for your camera, please feel free to contact our support department for assistance.
