For our Diversity Series recorders, in the event that you forget the password for the main admin account, there may be a way to reset the password. This will all depend on how the recorder was initially configured.
If the login window looks like the image below, with a button labeled Forgot Password, this indicates that there will be a method to retrieve the password without having to reset the device to default settings.
Click on the Forgot Password button and then depending on what options are available from the drop down menu, follow the instruction in each section below.
Security Question Verification
If this method is available, you will be asked to answer three security questions that were created when the recorder was initially configured. If they are all answered correctly and you have typed in the new password correctly in both fields, click on the Yes button to reset the password.
Certificate of Authorization
If Certificate of Authorization is available, this means that at one point a file was exported to a USB Flash Drive, acting as a passkey in the event that the password is forgotten. If you have the file, you will need to copy it to a USB Flash Drive and insert it into an open USB port on the recorder and follow the directions below in this section.
1. Click on the Import button seen in the image above and then as seen in the image below, navigate to find the file, which is usually named "certificate.txt".
2. Once you have found the file, click on the Yes/OK button to begin the importing of the file.
3. If you see the message, "Import Certificate File Completed" then it means that the file was a correct file. Now you can choose your new password and click on the Yes button when finished.
Super code Method
If the Super code option is available, this method will require you to place a call to our Technical Support department while still keeping this window open on the recorder. Once you have started a call with one of our technicians, just describe to them that you want to reset the password on your Diversity Series recorder using the Super code method. Follow their instructions and then you should be able to assign a new password.
What if there is no "Forgot Password" button
If for some reason, the Forgot Password is not shown, this indicates that during the initial setup, there was no option selected for a password reset. This means that you will need to use the reset button on the back of the device (while device is powered on). This will completely reset the recorder to default values, meaning that you will lose all configuration settings.
This does not delete HDD footage though, unless an option was chosen within the settings to also format the HDD when the reset button is held down. If this option was never configured, then by default the HDD footage will not be deleted.
Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact our Technical Support department during regular business hours.
