Axis IP cameras typically do not come with ONVIF enabled by default. In order to integrate them with AVYCON Recorders (both Plug & Play and Diversity Series), you must add an ONVIF user and also configure the built-in profiles so that they can work correctly with our recorders.

1.    After logging into the web interface of the Axis IP camera, click on the Settings link and then click on the System tab. Within this section, find the ONVIF icon and click on it.

2.    We will now need to create a user. Click on the + button underneath the ONVIF user section to start the process of adding a user.

3.    Choose a username and secure password for the ONVIF account, and for the User Group, please choose Administrator.

4.    Now under the ONVIF media profiles section, you should see two existing profiles, profile_1 h264 and profile_1 jpeg. You can think of the profile_1 h264 profile as the Main Stream, and the profile_1 jpeg profile as the Substream. Since profile_1 h264 is usually configured for the resolution of the camera and using the H.264 codec we won't need to configure it. What we will need to do is modify the profile_1 jpeg profile for typical Substream settings.

Click on the tile for profile_1 jpeg to bring the configuration menu down, and then click on the Video Encoder section to bring down the configuration menu so we can modify some settings.

5.    Please modify the following settings:

           Encoding:    Change to H.264

           Resolution:  Change to 640 x 480 or 704 x 480

Bitrate:         Change to either 512 or 768, but nothing higher than 1024.

GOV length: Change this value to double the framerate. In image below, we input 60 since framerate is 30.

6.    After you have configured these settings, you should now be able to scan for the camera and add it with the credentials you created.

Please contact our technical support department if you are having any issue adding the Axis IP camera to your NVRs/DVRs.
