If you have purchased one of our Plug & Play Series Autotracking PTZ cameras (such as the AVC-PHN21X25L) and have integrated it with a Plug & Play Series NVR (v1.4.5+), you can enable and configure the auto-tracking capabilities from the interface of the recorder itself, through either the local interface or through the web interface. Below is a quick guide for configuration.

1.    First, you must enter into the Settings / Function Panel menu for the NVR you have the camera attached to. Then you will need to navigate to Camera->PTZ. From this section, you should then see a sub-menu titled Smart Tracking. If you do not see this available, you may need to confirm that the firmware inside of the recorder is at least v1.4.5 or higher. Please contact our technical support department to inquire about any firmware upgrades that might be available for your device if you do not see Smart Tracking in the PTZ menu.

2.    Within this menu, if your camera is detected as available for Smart Tracking, you will see it listed as an available camera to configure (see image below).

3.    There will be two important options here:  Tracking Mode and Still Time.

Tracking Mode:    This controls how the camera will operate when the Smart Tracking is enabled. PTZ Auto Tracking Priority completely locks user control of any user PTZ movement and gives only the camera control of the PTZ movements. Manual PTZ Control Priority allows user PTZ movements while the camera is tracking, which can allow human control if needed (see screenshot below).

Still Time:    If this option is enabled, after the target has stopped moving the camera will stay stationary for the number of seconds chosen to possibly capture more footage of an event (see screenshot below).

4.    Next, within the Settings / Function Panel. we will need to navigate to AI / Event -> People/Vehicle Detection. After choosing your PTZ camera, you can choose either the Line Crossing or Intrusion analytic to trigger the Smart Tracking.

5.    In the example image below, we have chosen Line Crossing. First, make sure that the option labeled Enable Detection by IPC is checked. Then with the PTZ Controls (A) move your PTZ camera to the area and zoom level where you want to capture activity and start tracking. After you have adjusted the camera position and zoom, then create the virtual line that will start detecting the crossing. Then make sure to click on the button (B) to make sure the camera is in the Locked status (this will change text on button to say "Unlock"), which will allow the camera to return to this "Virtual Home" position you have chosen after it has finished tracking activity. Lastly, you will need to make sure the Trigger Track option (C) is enabled so that the camera will activate the tracking after the line crossing has occurred.

You can follow the same instructions above for the Intrusion analytic as well.

6.    Also, in the Detection Target section, you can choose which type of target to detect: Human, Vehicle or Non-Motor Vehicle (two wheel vehicles).

7.    After you have configured these option, please run a test to make sure that the camera is operating to your preferences.
